Maurita Reid, 1.73, 26 years old point guard, is the 3rd foreign player to sign for Ramat Hasharon, after Porsha Phillips and Jia Perkins. Reid, Miami University graduate, is a combination of point guard and scorer, and two years ago she was the score queen in the Polish league with 21.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.7 steals per game.
In her last season for Croatia team Gospic, Reid was chosen to the Euroleague season five, after achieving 17.3 points, 5 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 3.8 steals (1st in the Euroleague) per game. As seen from her statistics, she is an all-purpose player who excels in important games, as she manifested at Gospic when she played against Yekaterinborg (Russia), Gdynia (Poland) and Beshiktash (Turkey), the best teams in Europe.
Orna Ostfeld, head coach of Ramat Hasharon, says that she thought of her already last season. "Then it did not work out, this time – yes", She says. "She can play in all the guard positions, she defends, helps in rebound and together with Jia we have two very dangerous players. Both of them are also great guards with quick hands, so with Noa, Ayelet and Yael, we're set for the guard positions."
