Center (1.95) Chante Black is the 2nd foreign player signed by Electra Ramat Hasharon, after Alexis Hornbuckle. 25 years old Black, Duke University graduate, is a WNBA player for the Tulsa Shock, where she played with Hornbuckle until recently.
Black graduated in Women Studies and Biological Anthropology. In her 4 years of studies there she reached the final 8 (as a rookie), the final game the year after and sweet-16 the following year. She was the 8th player to reach in her college career a combination of 1400 points, 900 rebounds and 250 defenses.
At 2009 draft Black was chosen to the 10th place by Connecticut and this year was transferred to Tulsa. She is considered a good defense player who tries to block any throw in her surrounding and an excellent rebound player.
"I'm very happy with this contract" Says Coach Ostfeld. "I saw her this year a couple of times and as much as she is a good defense player, it does not come instead of her offense abilities. She's an athletic player, very fast for her height, who can even finish offensive attacks. She is versatile, has a good movement under the basket and she will make it difficult to score against her".
